Swings

Kitty felt the crunch of the gravel beneath her feet as she walked in her usual strut towards the swings. But she seemed languid and worn. The sun was just fading into the horizon as she plopped herself gently on one of the sagging swings. She wasn't supposed to be here, and she knew it. This area was for the elementary students. She sighed and began rocking her legs lazily. She felt the back of her head- tangled, as always.
Gingerly, Kitty slid the hair ties out of her pigtails and resumed the rocking. She unwillingly began to reminisce. Her heart ached for all the things she had once had possession of. Kitty felt that those things didn't belong to her now, rather, she wanted to belong to them again instead. The air chilled as the sun closed its eyes and let the grey sky take over her thoughts.

Azu took a walk around the Academy, trying to hold her thoughts together. Thoughts about tall people wearing safety glasses, white suits and lots of tools. She's had dreams about them lately. Azu got to thinking that they were more memories, not dreams.

As she walked as the cold air tickled her face. Her ears twitched as the wind hit them. She could faintly hear the sounds of the empty playground-- well, almost empty. The only thing that was keeping the playground alive was a single person swinging peacefully. Kitty.

Azu didn't want to disturb Kitty, seeing as she looked very peaceful. Azu turned around and tried to walk back to the Academy was quietly as she could. Azu's ear twitched as a soft buzzing sound came by. Azu looked up and saw a brightly yellowed bug flying by her. It was a reflex for Azu to try to catch any unfamiliar thing that moved. Forgetting about being quiet, Azu tried hitting the bug with her hand. The bug flew away, and Azu ran after it, getting closer and closer towards the playground, probably ruining Kitty's peace.

Kitty's mind was awakened by the sound of someone walking towards her. The footsteps soon faded though, as if the person had turned away. Kitty cracked open one eyelid to see whom it might be. An obnoxious shadow was silhouetted on the side of the white brick elementary school, reflecting the little light that dwindled in the sky on a girl. Peering closely, Kitty could see Azu trying to stealthily creep away. She was failing miserably.
Kitty shut her eyes once more and contemplated. Should she greet her? Or stay where she was? Or should she slither away, which she knew she would be much more successful at than her clumsy friend. Disrupting her thoughts was the ever obstreperous Azu, clamoring over a canary yellow object fizzing in the sky.
Kitty quickly determined that this was a poisonous bug, that would give you a rash where it stung you. Now Kitty had another choice: save her friend from the little pest, or leave her alone and have to listen to her complain for the next week. Her laziness drew her slightly towards the latter.

Azu ran and laughed, forgetting everything around her. She was in her own little world, chasing this little pest. Then, a pain went in her hand. She looked and saw a little stinger sticking out of her left hand. It stung and Azu knew her fun was over. She looked around and saw Kitty walking towards her shaking her head.
Azu wanted to be strong around her friend. The pain was agonizing, like somebody drilling a needle into your hand countless of times.

As kitty slid Azu's unconsious head on her knees, she stealthily plucked the glittering bug from the air. She gently prodded it into a small test tube she had accidentally taken from her alchemy class, and corked it in.
Kitty then gently pried Azu's hand from the other hand clenching it tightly.
" That's only going to make it hurt more genius" She heard a faint groan in reply. Kitty then dug the tiny stinger out with her nail. The swelling instantly went down. She felt a slight vibration from her front pocket, where the bug was being stored. Kitty ran back down to get her knapsack from the swing set, and waltzed back to find Azu sucking on her hand. And not the one that got stung.
She violently ripped Azu's palm from her lips.

Kitty twisted a menacing grin. As she rummaged around her bag with one hand, she continually place and retracted Azu's hand from her mouth, making a satisfying sound every time. At first she was looking for some ointment, to put the swelling down, but soon she displayed a shining magenta camera in her hand.
beep A red light glowed from above the lens as the timer counted the seconds recorded.
